One Out of Four
Strategies for Delivering Sensitive Content by eLearning
This national training programme demonstrates how eLearning can be highly effective in providing guidance on maternity care for survivors of sexual abuse.
One out of Four is an NHS Education for Scotland project developed to provide information and training for midwives to ensure that maternity healthcare is sensitive to the needs of women survivors of sexual violence across Scotland.
The challenge was how to best facilitate the education of a large number of health professionals across general practice, sexual health, and reproductive and maternity care, on what is a difficult subject. While taking into account that some of the people doing the training may themselves be survivors of sexual abuse
- eCom advised the project team on strategies for delivering the sensitive content by eLearning
- A number of responsive eLearning induction modules have been created which are accessible across multiple devices
- A successful blended education approach, combining eLearning with local workshops, was developed and has been effective in raising awareness of a sensitive subject across a significant number of health professionals
The team at eCom brought a positive approach to the project. Their advice on successful learning strategies and experience of managing sensitive content were key in helping us develop an effective education programme.
